The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has announced the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) 2026 for admission to Class VI for the 2026–2027 academic session. Eligible students from Assam can apply online to secure a seat in one of the prestigious Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.

About Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas

Launched under the National Policy of Education (1986), Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) are co-educational residential schools fully funded by the Government of India. Managed by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, JNVs operate across 27 States and 8 Union Territories, with 654 Vidyalayas nationwide, including 29 in Assam.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Geo Location: Must be studying Class V in the same district as the JNV and be a bonafide resident of that district.
  • Age Limit: Born between 1st May 2014 and 31st July 2016 (inclusive) for all categories (SC/ST/OBC).
  • Educational Qualification: Must be studying in Class V for the full 2025–26 session in a Government/Government-aided/recognized school or NIOS ‘B’ certificate course in the same district.
  • No of Attempts: Candidates can appear for JNVST only once.
  • Rural Quota: 75% seats reserved for rural candidates who studied Classes III–V in rural schools in the same district.

The JNVST 2026 is a 2-hour exam on 13th December 2025 at 11:30 AM, with 3 sections of objective-type questions.

How to Apply for Assam JNV Admission

  3. Check the box for “Have you read the prospectus?” and click Proceed.
  4. Fill in all required details in the online form.
  5. Upload necessary documents in the Upload Document section.
  6. Click Save & Preview, review your application, and click Submit.
  7. Save the Registration Number and acknowledgment receipt for future reference.

Admit Cards and Results

  • Admit Cards: Available for free download on the NVS portal before the exam. Check the portal for release dates.
  • Results: Expected by March 2026 for Summer-bound JNVs and May 2026 for Winter-bound JNVs. Results will be available on the NVS portal and displayed at JNV, District Education Officer, District Magistrate, and Deputy Commissioner offices. Selected candidates will receive SMS and speed post notifications.
